Last week I entered some photos into the 2008 Metro Photography Competition. The competition was open to students who had taken classes in photography at Metro college. There were 4 Categories including: People (General, Portraits, Weddings, Photojournalism), Nature (Travel, Landscapes, Flowers, Wildlife), Commercial (Still-life, Fashion, Industrial) and Abstract (General, Macro, Experimental). I have the 18-55 mm that came with my 30D and I use it the most. I am debating replacing it with the 24-70 or 24-105. I am leaning to the 24-70 though.

I invested in the 70-200 mm f/4 IS USM. I have used the f/2.8 version of the lens, but I decided to go a little lighter with the f/4. I'm more likely to use the f/4 I figured.

I would also like a good macro lens, as that's one area I really enjoy. Good to hear that the 24-70 is good for portraits, because that is another area I'd like to explore more.

I am staying away from any EF-S lenses because my goal (eventually) is to get a 5D MkII. Don't tell my wife! hehe

A good wide angle is something else I'd like.

I had looked at that 50 mm f/1.8. It seemed so cheap I wondered if it was too cheap! May have to add that one to my list.

One that I thought looked interesting was Canon's 85 mm f/1.2. There's no way I could justify that one though. :)]]>

A Wedding Moment – Lovey & Jasmine

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of doing some formal wedding portraits for Lovey and Jasmine at the Alberta Legislature Grounds. Jasmine wore a beautiful turquoise sari and Lovey wore a matching tux vest and tie which really made for some great photos. Here are a few shots from the shoot.
