Wedding Moment – Kelly + Brad

Sarah and I first met Kelly and Brad about a year ago to chat about their wedding photography over a coffee at Starbucks. From the moment we met we could tell that they were an awesome couple and shared a lot of the same interests and quirky sense of humor as us. We were delighted when they selected us to be their photographers and couldn’t wait for their wedding day to arrive. A few weeks ago K+B came over to our place to chat about their photography and make final plans for their big day. Before we knew it we had spent a few hours just hanging out and getting to know each other better. During the course of our conversation we told them about our trip to Italy and showed them the photos from the trip. Flipping through the photos on our iPad, they came across some photos of us playing Kevin Kubota’s lying down game and immediately wanted to play it on their wedding day! For those not familiar with how this game works, basically you lay face down as rigid as you can with your arms at your side and then someone takes a photo of you in this position. The more interesting the location the better and you get bonus points if you have to really look at the photograph to pick the person out. While in Italy we played this game in restaurants, on top of public fountains, on trains, the beach, and anywhere else people would find it weird to find someone laying down. Needless to say we were both stoked to play the game with Kelly & Brad.

The wedding ceremony was held outdoors in front of Government House on the grounds of the Royal Alberta Museum. Given all the rain that we’ve had this summer, we were hoping for a break in the weather so that photographs and the ceremony could all be done outdoors. After calling in a special favor, Mother Nature finally delivered a day without rain and allowed us to capture some beautiful images in the great outdoors. After the ceremony we headed into downtown Edmonton for some fun urban photography and then back to the museum for a few more quick shots before the party started.

One thing that I pride myself on is having a quick turnaround time for my clients so they can see some of their images within a few days of the wedding.
