If you’re from Edmonton, chances are pretty good that you’ll recognize this amazing couple. They are Sharon & Mack and we’re so excited to photograph their wedding this fall. Sharon & Mack are actively involved in our community and you’ll find them behind the scenes at many great events including What the Truck and Eat Alberta. They are both foodies who are very active on social media and are advocates for Edmonton’s downtown. Sharon & Mack each run very popular blogs and Mack has made several appearances on local media to discuss trends and statistics related to social media and Edmonton. In addition to all of their community service, Sharon & Mack are a super sweet couple who we’ve been fortunate to know for several years and who’ve been big supporters of our photography.

For their engagement session, Sharon & Mack wanted to do something that reflects two of the things they are passionate about. Edmonton’s vibrant downtown and the local food scene. We started their session on the footbridge that connects Louise McKinney Park and Henrietta Louise Edwards Park which provided a great backdrop with the city skyline. Afterward, we headed to one of their favourite spots in the city for some wine and tapas – Tzin Wine Bar on 104th Street.

Terri & Nathan are one of those couples who love to laugh, are comfortable being silly with one another, and can’t stop smiling when they are in the presence of each other. We first met them at Stephanie & Buddy’s wedding last year and we were so excited when they chose us to photograph their wedding this year.

Our day started out by photographing everyone getting ready at the hotel which is always one of our favourite parts of the wedding day to photograph. There are usually a lot of emotions before the ceremony and plenty of laughs as stories are exchanged between good friends and family members.

From there we headed back to the south side of the city to photograph their reception at the Celtic Hall. We had a great time with Terri & Nathan and we look forward to sharing the rest of their images with them.

It was supposed to be an outdoor affair in Red Deer but torrential rain and  hurricane force winds resulted in a change of plans for Kim & Conrad’s wedding in Red Deer. But the rain and wind didn’t dampen the couple’s spirit as friends and family gathered at the Black Knight Inn in Red Deer to celebrate their union.

Kim & Conrad were introduced to us by fellow photographer Tom Lim and we were thrilled to photograph their special day which started out at Crystal Orchid Hair Design with the girls getting ready. Afterward, Sarah headed over to get a few shots of the guys getting dressed. While all of this was happening, Kim & Conrad’s amazing wedding planner Lori from Crystal Orchid Weddings, was busy transforming one of the conference rooms at the Black Knight Inn into a beautiful room for their ceremony. Originally they had planned to have their ceremony in a park in downtown Red Deer but a nasty summer storm hit overnight. Brides – this is exactly the reason you should always have a Plan B if you’re planning to have an outdoor wedding in Alberta at any time of year.

After their ceremony, the weather was still pretty bad so we made our way over to Dentoom’s Greenhouse for photographs with the bridal party. Special thanks to Rebecca & her mom for allowing us to take shelter from the storm in your beautiful greenhouse.

Once we were done photographing the happy couple and their bridal party, we headed back to the Black Knight Inn for their reception. Lori did an amazing job with the decor and the room looked amazing. We particularly loved the table markers that Kim & Conrad chose which featured photographs of them at different ages based upon the table number. Such a cute idea!

Kim & Conrad, once again we thank you choosing us to photograph your wedding. We hope you enjoyed your day and will look back on your photographs for years to come with plenty of fond memories.

To be fair we did have a backup plan but cancelled it when we saw how nice pictures with rain were and we hated the thought of an indoor ceremony. We purchased a bunch of cool umbrellas and had arranged for tents and whatnot to be delivered to the ceremony but unfortunately the wind kiboshed that.

Just goes to show no matter how many precautions you think you’ve taken there could always be some type of freak weather you don’t anticipate (if it wasn’t rain and wind it probably would’ve been hail!)
