Where do we start with Bob & Jack. We have been looking forward to their wedding for well over a year. Bruce first met Jack a couple of years ago when he photographed her for Delux burger’s Celebrity Chef campaign and so when it came time to choose a photographer for her wedding, we were at the top of her list. Jacqueline co-hosts the morning show on CISN FM and her and Bob have been soul mates for years so it was such an honour to be there to capture their special day.
Both Bob & Jack are huge animal lovers. They own two Chihuahuas named Charlie and Bella and Bob grew up on a farm in Thorsby surrounded by animals. Jacqueline also sat on the board for the Edmonton Valley Zoo so it was appropriate that they decided to hold their wedding at the Calgary Zoo.
The day started out with the girls getting ready at a downtown condo while the boys enjoyed a few refreshments poolside at the Hotel Arts after getting into their awesome suits from Derk’s. Even though they didn’t come to the wedding, both Bella & Charlie were still part of the day and we loved their wedding attire.
Bob gave Jacqueline a beautiful string of pearls and Jack surprised Bob with flying lessons. We loved capturing both of their reactions to each other’s gifts.
Jacqueline would not let her bridesmaids see her dress before the wedding day despite their best efforts to find out what it looked like. She really wanted to surprise them on the wedding day with a ‘first look’. Their reactions were awesome.
Naturally Bella and Charlie had to get some cuddles and love from mom before she headed off to the ceremony.
The ceremony was held outdoors near the Enmax Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo and was officiated by Matt Jeneroux, MLA for Edmonton South-west.
After their ceremony, Bob & Jack had a special date with the penguins at the zoo! We were allowed to head into the penguin enclosure where Bob, Jack and their best man and maid of honour were allowed to feed the penguins. One cheeky penguin even tried nesting in Jack’s dress! It was a pretty amazing experience being able to get up close and personal with these amazing birds.
After our date with the penguins, we met up with the rest of the bridal party to do a few photographs around the grounds of the Calgary Zoo. Bob & Jack’s wedding party was so much fun and we had a great time getting to know all of them.
Anyone who knows Jack knows that giraffes are her favourite animal. Originally we were going to be allowed into the giraffe enclosure to do photographs but unfortunately at the last minute, the trainers at the zoo decided that we wouldn’t be allowed into the enclosure so we had to settle for a few photographs outside but thankfully the giraffes were cooperative and curious enough to pose for a couple of quick photographs.
Once formal photographs were finished, we headed back to the Enmax Conservatory to do family photos and then headed into their reception. Jack’s co-host of the CISN Morning show, Chris Sheetz, was the MC for the evening and throughout dinner, friends, family and loved ones had nothing but beautiful things to say about the happy couple.
Bob & Jack, we can’t thank you enough for honouring us by choosing us to photograph your wedding day. You made us feel so welcomed and your friends and family were amazing.
