  • Delux Burger Celebrity Chef – Santa Claus

Commercial photography provides me with great opportunities to photograph some wonderful subjects and it’s not everyday that you get to photograph the big guy himself. That’s right – I’m talking about Santa Claus! Santa is the Delux Burger Celebrity Chef for the month of December. Stop by either location of Delux Burger to try out his ‘Naughty or Nice’ burger featuring a 6 oz turkey patty, creamy Camembert cheese, butter lettuce, double smoked bacon, and cranberry & sage mayo on a fresh kaiser bun. Let’s face it. While there is nothing wrong with milk and cookies, even Santa needs to have some protein in his diet once and awhile.

Here are a few photographs from my session with the one and only Santa Claus as he swung by the take-out window at Delux Burger in West Edmonton Mall to grab a quick bite before heading back up to the North Pole to finish preparing for Christmas!

  • Delux Burger Celebrity Chef – Jerry Aulenbach

Well it’s November and that means it’s time for another Delux Burger Celebrity Chef. This month’s chef is known around town as that “Guy in the Bacon Suit” or by his popular online persona – ZoomJer. That man in the bacon costume is none other than Edmonton Realtor Jerry Aluenbach. Jerry is widely known in the social-media circles and is a frequent visitor to many of the Century Hospitality Group properties including Delux Burger Bar. Jerry is also a strong supporter and local organizer of fund raising events for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation which is dedicated exclusively to funding women’s shelters and violence prevention programs. I’ve known Jerry for a couple of years now thanks to Twitter and he’s always been a great supporter of local charities and the community so it was great to see him selected as November’s Celebrity Chef.

Being a fan of social media and bacon, Jerry’s burger is appropriately named ‘The Double Bacon Foursquare Burger’. It features Diamond Willow 100% organic beef, a slice of sweet pineapple, Havarti jalapeno cheese, mayo, red onion, lettuce, and of course 2 strips of Irving’s Farm smoked bacon. To make it a truly social burger, if you check in at either location of Delux Burger on Foursquare and show it to your server, you’ll receive $1 off your burger. And if that isn’t enough incentive, for each of Jerry’s burgers that are sold during the month of November, Jerry is going to personally donate $1 to the Royal LePage Shelter Society. How can you go wrong? You get a tasty burger and a worthwhile charity gets some help raising money this year.

Be sure to join Jerry on November 5th at 7:00 at the Delux Burger in West Edmonton Mall for his launch party to kick-off his burger and the month of NovemJer (I actually just made that up myself). Who know, perhaps the famous bacon suit may even make an appearance! Here are a few photographs from our photo shoot at Delux Burger in West Edmonton Mall.

  • Delux Burger Celebrity Chef – Bridget Ryan

Delux Burger Celebrity Chef – Bridget Ryan

And the next celebrity chef is…..drum roll….Breakfast Television’s very own – Bridget Ryan! If you’ve been following the blog, you’ll know that I’ve been photographing a promotion for Delux Burger which features a local celebrity’s burger on the menu for an entire month. For September, the celebrity is none other than the fabulous and fun Bridget Ryan. Bridget is the second celebrity chef from Breakfast Television following in the footsteps of fellow BT host Ryan Jespersen and his amazing Thai One On burger which was actually the very first celebrity burger of the promotion. We met up at the new Delux location in West Edmonton Mall for the photo shoot and to sample her creation which will be featured on the menu at both locations throughout the month of September. Did you also know that Delux in WEM has a take-out window?

Bridget’s Burger is a twist on the classic bacon mushroom burger featuring mouth watering boar bacon, fresh portabello mushrooms, vine ripened tomatoes, and crispy lettuce. Be sure to stop by and check it out. You can catch Bridget on Breakfast Television, weekday mornings from 7-9 and you can also follow Bridget on Twitter along with her fellow host Ryan Jespersen. You can also follow Delux Burger for daily specials and other juicy details. Here are a few photographs from our shoot.

And for the keen eyed observers of my blog, you may notice my brand new logo on these images! Yes it’s finally finished and I’ll be posting more about my new branding soon. I will also start to use it across my website and blog once I get through September and have some free time to start implementing it. In the meantime, I’d love to hear your comments on the new logo.

  • Delux Burger Celebrity Chef – Che Bechard

Delux Burger Celebrity Chef – Che Bechard

It’s been a busy wedding photography season for me this year but I’ve also been keeping busy with commercial photography for the Century Hospitality Group. After a brief hiatus, a new batch of celebrity chefs have been lined up for Delux Burger’s Celebrity Chef campaign so I’m back providing the commercial photography for their point of purchase and website campaign. This campaign features a different celebrity’s burger on the menu each month. Past celebrities have included Breakfast Television host Ryan Jespersen, Edmonton Journal food columnist Liane Faulder, Pepper & Dylan formerly of the Bounce radio station, Mary Bailey of City Palate , Warren Smith from Wild Game Consultants, Adam Ungarian from Hesco, and Chris Kourouniotis from CK Design Associates.

This time around, we were able to shoot in the brand new Delux Burger location in West Edmonton Mall. It’s a great looking location with over twice the capacity of the original Delux Burger Bar and it features a take-out window which is open until 3:00 am for the late night Bourbon Street crowd looking for a delicious burger. August’s Celebrity Chef is Che Bechard of Baseline Wine & Spirits and his featured burger for the month is the Poutine Burger. This mouthwatering delight is made with 7 oz of Alberta beef, secret sauce, fresh cut french fries, and real curd cheese on a kaiser bun. Truly a Canadian masterpiece. Sarah and I actually stopped by the new location yesterday to partake of this gastronomic delight. Be sure to drop in to either location of Delux Burger during the month of August to try out this delicious burger before it’s gone.

  • Event Moment – Edmonton Women in Business

The April issue of Edmontonians will be dedicated to women in business and will be the 5th Annual Women in Business issue. I had the opportunity to photograph two features for the next issue including three new partners at the law firm of Davis LLP and a round-table discussion with five successful female entrepreneurs.

The round-table was led by Erin Rayner from Ed Marketing (an Edmonton-based marketing and event company), who facilitated the discussion. We met in the conference room of the Alberta Women Entrepreneurs – “a not-for-profit organization that provides a range of tools to help women across Alberta succeed in business.” While there, I actually ran into a former colleague who I used to work with at the YMCA back in my life guarding days (I promise to all my readers that I have retired the Speedo!). Erin was joined by Tracey Scarlett – CEO of AWE, Colleen Madsen from Sandler Training, Jessie Radies from the Blue Pear Restaurant, and Pauline Perreault from Jump Outta Bed Workplace Strategies.

All five women discussed what it means to them to be a female entrepreneur, the challenges they’ve faced, and what it takes to succeed in today’s marketplace. It was an interesting discussion and I gained some valuable female insight towards what it takes to succeed in business. Be sure to pick up the April edition of Edmontonians when it hits newsstands to read Erin’s article.
