  • Delux Burger Celebrity Chef – Chris Kourouniotis

    I’ve been providing commercial photography services for the Century Hospitality Group for the past few months to provide imagery for their point of purchase and website campaign for Delux Burger. This campaign features a different celebrity’s burger on the menu each month. Past celebrities have included Breakfast Television host Ryan Jespersen, Edmonton Journal food columnist Liane Faulder, Pepper & Dylan from the Bounce radio station, Mary Bailey of City Palate , and Warren Smith from Wild Game Consultants. Adam Ungarian from Hesco is April’s celebrity chef but I initially posted that he would the chef for March.

    For the month of March, the Delux Burger Celebrity Chef is Chris Kourouniotis from CK Design Associates. Chris and his team provided the interior design for several of the Century Hospitality Group’s restaurants including Hundred and the newly renovated Century Room. Be sure to check out their new YouTube channel for a peek this newly redesigned hot spot on Edmonton’s southside.

    Chris’s burger features a 6oz lean Alberta strip loin steak burger, kopanisti, crispy prosciutto, shredded iceberg lettuce, Mediterranean salsa, on a fresh baked sesame seed bun. Be sure to stop by Delux during the month of March to enjoy this delicious burger that was really ‘well designed’ from the bun up.

  • Portrait Moment – Women in Business Feature

    This year I’ve started to do some freelance work for the Edmontonians newspaper. The Edmontonians is a monthly publication which focuses on business in the capital city. For the month of March, my photos from Refinery Night at the Art Gallery of Alberta are featured on the cover and in the center spread. For the month of April, the issue will be devoted to Women in Business and I was lucky enough to do two awesome shoots with some fabulous ladies this week. On Friday, I visited the law offices of Davis LLP where I had the opportunity to meet three of their newest partners – Jennifer Cleall, Wendy-Anne Berkenbosch, and Rachel Hamilton. All three ladies were so much fun to work with and I was so excited when they let me know that they didn’t want traditional, boring old office photos taken at a boardroom table. We took advantage of the early arrival of spring and headed out to Churchill Square to take some fun shots in front of City Hall. All three were a little hesitant at first but once we got going we started to have some fun and after just a few minutes they were posing for the camera like experienced models. Here are a few shots from our shoot.

    On the walk back to the office, I discovered that the law firm where my sister used to work, eventually became Davis LLP and Rachel actually recognized her name and had run across some files with my sister’s name on them. Small world. Afterwards, I also discovered that Rachel’s husband is Tyler Hamilton who was the winner of David Foster’s Star Search competition back in the fall of 2008. I was the official photographer for that event and photographed Tyler during the competition and during his big moment on stage at the Winspear. Again, small world sometimes.

  • Delux Burger Celebrity Chef – Adam Ungarian

    It’s hard to believe that another month has almost come and gone and it’s time to reveal the next chef in Delux Burger’s Celebrity Chef promotion. The celebrity chef for the month of March April is Adam Ungarian from HESCO Hotel & Equipment Supply Co. HESCO supplies commercial grade equipment for many clients in Edmonton including the Century Hospitality Group. I stopped by Lux on Friday to photograph Adam with his creation – the Hesco Heart Attack – his take on the classic cheeseburger. Adam’s burger features two 5oz burgers on a cheddar Kaiser roll topped with three kinds of cheese, 4 slices of bacon, caramelized onions, and life saving lettuce and tomato (just to keep it nice and healthy). Watch for this bad boy on Delux’s menu during the month of March April.

  • Delux Burger Celebrity Chef – Warren Smith

    February is the month we celebrate love and who doesn’t love a great burger? If you’re a meat lover or your significant other is a meat lover, you have to be sure to swing by Delux Burger during the month of February to enjoy Warren Smith’s “Redneck Burger”. Warren Smith is the owner of Wild Game Consultants and is February’s Celebrity Chef. Wild Game Consultants is the supplier of exotic meats and poultry to some of Edmonton’s finest dining establishments including Delux, Lux, Hardware Grill, Jack’s Grill, and N.A.I.T. Warren can bring in just about any type of meat ranging from exotic meats such as ostrich, rattlesnake, and kangaroo to more standard meats and poultry such as bison, elk, and pheasant.

    Warren’s “Redneck Burger” features a 7oz bison burger topped with parmesan cheese, fresh ham, smoked pork shoulder butt, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and mustardnaise (mayo & mustard mixture) on a toasted kaiser bun. One of the great things about photographing this promotion is that I’ve had a chance to try out each of these burgers after I’m done photographing them. Being a big fan of bison meat I really enjoyed Warren’s creation and highly suggest you stop by and try it out.

  • Delux Burger Celebrity Chef – Mary Bailey

    Delux Burger’s Celebrity Chef continues in the month of December featuring Mary Bailey – well known Edmonton foodie and Editor of City Palate, the flavour of Edmonton’s food scene. I stopped by Lux on Friday to photograph the creation of Mary’s Alberta Burger featuring ingredients made here in Alberta. The recipe includes Alberta Beef from Spring Creek Ranch, brisket, panko bread crumbs, rosemary, Sylvan Star smoked Gouda, horseradish, and beet relish. The combination of flavors was amazing and the fact that it was made with locally produced ingredients made this a proudly Albertan burger. Be sure to swing by Delux Burger in the month of December to try it out.
