Delux Burger Celebrity Chefs – Jamie Sale & Craig Simpson

It’s February – the month of love and there is a new burger on the menu at Delux for you to fall in love with. A few weeks after getting back from photographing a wedding in India, I had the pleasure of photographing this month’s Celebrity Chefs: Olympic gold medalist Jamie Sale and Stanley Cup champion and former Edmonton Oiler – Craig Simpson. Jamie and Craig met a couple of years ago when they were partners on the popular CBC show – Battle of the Blades and ultimately won the competition in it’s inaugural season.

Now they have a new claim to fame and have joined an elite group of Delux Burger Celebrity Chefs with their Fire & Ice Chicken Club burger. It’s a 60z blackened chicken breast with melted applewood cheddar, double smoked bacon, peppercorn ranch, lettuce, and tomatoes on wholegrain flatbread. Jamie and Craig have chosen to support Special Olympics Alberta with their burger and $1 from every burger sold during the month of February will be donated to Special Olympics Alberta. I, like many Canadians cheered Jamie and her partner David on as they went for Gold at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. I was fortunate to meet Jamie a few years ago when she was a judge for the Dancing for the Kids competition which we’ve had the pleasure of photographing for the past couple of years. I had also met Craig during the Oilers heyday but never imagined back then that I would be photographing both of them one day. That’s why I love photography so much – you never know what each day will hold and it’s opened up so many great opportunities for me that wouldn’t have otherwise had thanks in part to my camera.
