This past weekend we had the honor of photographing Kelly & Jay’s beautiful wedding in Edmonton’s river valley. The two were wed on the patio at the Royal Glenora Club on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Kelly & Jay were referred to us by Jordana and Dale who’s wedding we photographed last year in Camrose. It’s always so rewarding knowing that we’ve done a good job for our couples that they are willing to refer us to their friends and it’s the number one way we’ve built our business to where it is today.
The day started with the girls getting ready downtown at the Coast Edmonton Hotel. Kelly’s gown was a beautiful vintage inspired gown from Delica Bridal.
Kelly’s fabulous floral arrangements were created by Anjulee at Jewels & Rays.
Kelly and Jay opted to do a first look prior the wedding. We love couples who decide to see each other before their ceremony for the first time as it gives them an opportunity to share a special moment together without anyone else around (except for those silly photographers of course). Needless to say, we think Jay liked what he saw when he turned around and saw Kelly in her dress for the first time. We think Jay looked pretty sharp too in his tux from Derks Formals.
We had a great time goofing around with their wedding party  and we loved the coral dresses that Kelly chose for her bridesmaids. They all commented how much they loved them and that they were looking forward to being able to wear them again. Plus they had pockets – awesome!
After we were finished photographing the bridal party, we snuck off into the River Valley to spend some time with the bride and groom. Unfortunately the mosquitoes tried to devour us in the shade of the trails so we had to retreat back to the other side of the river into the open where the breeze and hot afternoon sun kept them at bay.
After photographing Kelly & Jay we headed to the Glenora Club for their ceremony and reception. The other advantage of doing wedding photos before the wedding is that as soon as the ceremony is over, you can head right into your party and your guests don’t have to wait around for several hours in between events.
Kelly’s dad looked so happy walking his daughter down the aisle.
During the ceremony, the rings were passed around among all of the guests so they could give the happy couple their prayers and blessings. It took awhile to get them back but we thought that was a really neat touch. Loved this shot of grandma holding the rings and giving them her blessing.
I don’t think Kelly stopped smiling at Jay once during the entire ceremony.
What a great day! Thanks again to Kelly and Jay for inviting us to share in your day and we wish you many years of happiness ahead and hope you will be able to look back on your photographs and remember all of the moments that made up your special day.
