This past Saturday, Sarah and I had the pleasure of photographing Ragan + Jason’s beautiful wedding in Edmonton, Alberta. After a wet and cold start to the summer, Mother Nature finally delivered one of the nicest days of the year that we’ve had so far although the warmer weather did bring out the pesky mosquitoes. It was a special weekend for us too as we were celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary the following day so it was nice to look back and remember the day we were married as we witnessed Ragan & Jason start their new lives together.
We were introduced to Ragan & Jason by Ragan’s mother Valerie whom we had met at the dinner with Chef David Adjey. Val is a local food educator who runs a great blog at www.acanadianfoodie.com and was also one of the organizers behind the Eat Alberta event which we photographed a few months ago.
The day started with Sarah photographing the guys while I headed over to Valerie’s home to photograph the ladies getting ready. Ragan was glowing in her beautiful gown from Bridal Debut in Sherwood Park. After hitting a few speed bumps involving a missing suit and a broken bussell button, both Ragan and Jason made their way to Robertson-Wesley United Church for their ceremony in front of friends and family. It was a beautiful ceremony filled with plenty of emotion and some original vows which included some quotes from Dr. Seuss.
After the ceremony was completed we headed outside to take some family photographs in front of the church. Then it was off to photograph the bridal party on the grounds of the University of Alberta after a quick stop at Jason’s aunts’ place to take some photographs with Jason’s mistress – his new motorcycle. Ragan and Jason looked so cute together and were laughing and smiling the whole time.
From there we made our way back to the Edmonton Petroleum Club for the reception and an amazing meal. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful day and we felt so honored to be included in their special day. Sarah and I want to wish Ragan and Jason all the best and offer up these sneak peeks at a few of our favorite images from the day’s events.
